We had a wonderful Wednesday morning volunteering at the McIntire Botanical Garden as they planted their first bed today. The team grabbed some shovels and a mattock and helped plant a black gum tree and native shrubs around the new sign at the corner of John W. Warner Parkway and Melbourne Road. KWLS is delighted to see the project moving forward after developing a Master Plan for the garden in 2011.
Opening in 2018, the McIntire Botanical Garden will be 8.5 acres of quintessential Piedmont landscapes. The garden will be open to the public for exploration, workshops, research, and classes for all ages. MGB seeks to promote knowledge, recreation, and conservation through their efforts in creating a beautiful and sustainable landscape. Check out the story at NBC, the Daily Progress, and CBS!
The plan below was done for the McIntire Botanical Garden Foundation as a preliminary Master Plan. it is not the current funded plan.
